SODA ASH

Sabine Surveyors, Ltd. provides routine survey, sampling and analysis of bulk soda ash loaded at a dedicated terminal located in Port Arthur, Texas for European, Mediterranean, African and South and Central American discharge ports.  Services provided include:

  • Vessel cleanliness prior to loading (Soda ash is primarily utilized as a component in glass production requires higher vessel cleanliness standards than a typical bulk grain shipment for human consumption.)
  • Draft survey to determine quantity of cargo loaded
  • Railcar counting and quantity check.
  • Sampling as per ASTM standards
  • Cargo protection recommendations
  • Hatch sealing
  • Analysis and certification of cargo quality as per ASTM standards

The Kinder Morgan Terminal in Port Arthur, Texas, is a direct railcar-to-vessel loading facility with a throughput of over 1.5 million metric tons of soda ash per year loaded into 80-100 vessels.  The terminal loads at approximately 10,000 metric tons per day.  Sabine Surveyors, Ltd. is the primary surveying firm appointed for over 90% of this cargo.
